Unfortunately, due to the storm it caused a bit of a delay with the car as the roof of the shed decided to eject itself from the rest of the structure, but all fixed now! I'm starting to think this car may be cursed!
Liam and his 2 good friends Mr. screwdriver and Mrs angle grinder (is that gender appropriate?) found out a previous owner who resprayed it used filler on the arches and as you can see its rusted through. as far as I know the car was only resprayed a year or 2 before I bought it. otherwise there is a good knuckle of filler on the sills which I had already had knowledge from a bad sill repair I had got done off a previous lad unfortunately. its sad in a way to see corners cut on such a cool car, but glad we are seeing everything to do before cracking on!
I bought a rear wing repair panel that also has the rear sill included, but, this would result in having to get the whole rear quarter panels painted on both sides. So, we are going to cut the arches and pop a wide body arch kit onto her. Nothing too wide but will give the car a nice stance and get rid of our rust problem on the arches. Just waiting for the parts to land which will probably be today (10/02) and then can get cutting.
I have an idea in my head to black out the full engine. so I have the engine here in Dublin and ill be painting it and refurbishing the rims I have while I'm a it. Might as well make everything look fresh!
unfortunately, shopify does not let me upload videos to show you the extent of rust corrosion this car has and how big of a job it is but full appreciation to Liam at FC Repairs for taking this big project on and doing an absolute Thorough inspection before hand to make sure that I never have to do this job again. hopefully the next time ill be blogging well have some rust out, fresh panels in and fresh arches!
Till Next Week!
Jack
